This 3 year position is jointly funded by a Google Faculty Research Award and by the University of Lincoln, and it includes tuition fees and an annual stipend of \u00a313k for living expenses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">The PhD position is offered in the area of active vision with human-in-the-loop to aid the navigation of the visually impaired. The successful candidate will be expected to design, conduct and publish original research on this topic, developing novel approaches for real-time machine vision and adaptive human-machine interfaces. More information about the project can be found on this page: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lincoln.ac.uk\/news\/2015\/06\/1110.asp\">http:\/\/www.lincoln.ac.uk\/news\/2015\/06\/1110.asp<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">He\/she will engage in an international and ambitious team, working with state-of-the-art hardware and software, including the recent Project Tango&#8217;s Development Kit, and <span lang=\"en-GB\">benefiting<\/span> from excellent support to produce and disseminate original research contributions. Moreover, he\/she will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with members of the L-CAS team involved in several European and national projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">The candidate will have a Master (Distinction) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject, strong analytical and programming skills (e.g. C++, Java), preferably with proven experience in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Control Systems and\/or Human-Machine Interaction. Some experience also on Android mobile development would be an advantage.
