Following his recently published paper, our L-CAS PhD student Raymond Kirk has been honoured with the “Best Talk Award” by the Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE). Raymond’s presentation titled “Robot Mounted Vision Systems for Soft Fruit In the Wild” was recognised by the members of the South East Midlands Branch of IAgrE this Monday (3/2/2020). This award offers a well-deserved recognition of Raymond’s excellent and most relevant research for transforming agriculture. Raymond is completing his PhD studies in partnership also with the CTP in Fruit Crop Research. and in the context of the wider RASberry research programme.
Raymond said about his talk:
Agriculture in 2020 faces many challenges, we need to
produce more food in less time over a smaller area and
with a smaller labour force. We presented our research on
using robot-mounted cameras for analysing soft fruits to
intelligently detect, harvest, count and forecast yield in the wild.
